Friday Flashback: Mr. Scruff

Trouser Jazz is one of those must have LP's from Mr. Scruff (born Andy Carthy) that was released in 2002 on Ninja Tune. Although the album is very solid from start to finish, the song that really amazes me, even to this day, is "Come Alive" that features the vocals of Seattle native Niko, now is based in Brooklyn, NYC, who has collaborated with AIM to release her own music. The feel of this tune is perfectly matched for its title, giving the sense of feeling free. Press play and take flight!

Janelle Monae: TheArchandroid Suites II + III

The lovely and talented Janelle Monae will be releasing her new album on May 18th. I was blown away by listening to this single off the album, which has an old school Rock n Roll/Alternative feel. Looks like we have another to add to the ranks of young artists who are bringing us good music in these times of having the markets saturated with garbage. Enjoy!
