Karriem Riggins Produced That

It's been nearly a month since Stones Throw released this podcast. I just caught wind of it and decided to post it because it's definitely some head nod ish. Karriem Riggins goes beyond the call of duty of being called a "beat junkie" by being a gifted Jazz drummer who's backed Hank Jones, Oscar Peterson, Milt Jackson, Donald Byrd, Ron Carter and tours with Diana Krall, he was also a good friend of the late great J-Dilla, producing quite a few tracks with him in the lab. Get a heavy dose of his musical medicine by getting this free download.

Georgia Anne Muldrow: Seeds (Official Video)

The last time I blogged about this incredible tune and collaboration was in the form of an mp3. Today, I am here to help give the visuals through the official video of the title track Seeds by Georgia Anne Muldrow, which will drop on March 27th. I also featured this tune in my Soul Blend 2012 v.1 mix I did early January. By the way, this should be inspiration to keep the movement going against genetically modified seeds and food. The single is out now for purchase on iTunes. ENJOY!

Georgia Anne Muldrow: Seeds (prod. by Madlib)

Georgia Anne Muldrow gives true definition to soul music. Not just in the sense of simply belting out a song, but to display emotion behind lyrics that have meaning. THIS is what I would consider "grown folks music", as well as music like this to be played for children. Considering the times and the way the world is currently, we need to plant "Seeds" for progression. I really dig this old school 70's funky vibe the vocals are set to.

Seeds is the name of the upcoming album by G.A.M. coming out March 27th via SomeOthaShip Connect by way of LP, CD and digital album. A 7 inch (that's a 45 record, for those who don't know) and digital single is scheduled for February 14th on Fat Beats. Big respect to Madlib for conducting the orchestra. Enjoy!

Georgia Anne Muldrow: Momma Music

Just wanted to take the time to pay homage to the very gifted and talented Georgia Anne Muldrow, the first lady of Stones Throw Records. I first got a taste of her talents via the Platinum Pied Pipers' Triple P album that was released in 2005. Since then, she has been gaining steam by composing, writing, producing and performing.

The video below is why I dub her as "Momma Music". As you can see, she's at her home working on the remix for "Suite For Ma Dukes Untitled/Fantastic" with her young son on her lap. Being well versed on keyboards, Akai MPC and other production gear, she has provided tracks for Dudley Perkins/Declaime, LMNO, Erykah Badu, J*Davey, Peanut Butter Wolf, Eagle Nebula, Dwight Trible, Dego of 4 Hero and for her own projects.

Visit Stones Throw to purchase her releases, tour schedule and more info.

Mayer Hawthorne: I Need You

Mayer Hawthorne has a new single on Stones Throw Records in stores now called "I Need You". The 12 inch record (also available on CD) is a one sided single because on the flip side there's an etching by Miami artist Freegums. Being raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is right outside of Detroit, Hawthorne adds that old school Motown soulful flavor with today's blazing beats. The track was produced by Nottz. Enjoy!

MED: MEDical Card

New video from Stones Throw artist MED (Medaphoar) that was produced by Madlib. It's been five years since he dropped Push Comes To Shove which featured production from Madlib, Oh No!, J-Dilla and Just Blaze. A new album is scheduled to be released later this year.

J-Dilla: Donut Shop

As a thank you for the support Stones Throw Records got for the limited special edition J-Dilla Serato vinyl they released in May, they decided to give this half dozen of "ear sweets" as a freebie to delight you. TURN IT UP!
