Much good can be said about Detroit native Karriem Riggins (born August 25, 1975). A legend in his own right as a talented Jazz drummer, he has worked with a few legends in Jazz music, which include Oscar Peterson, Milt Jackson, Donald Byrd, Betty Carter, Cedar Walton, Bobby Hutcherson, Roy Hargrove and a few other notables.
With so many people giving away so much good music for free, I sometimes wonder if they're insane. In DJ Jazzy Jeff's case, you can say he is on so many levels. Thing is, it's as Run-DMC so eloquently put it..."Not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good!" He and Ayah are keeping the Back For More momentum going with the "Notorious (Remix)" with a helping hand from Freeway, Philly newcomer Dosage and Tona, hailing from Toronto. Not that i'm sleeping on anyone, but the world of music seems almost as vast as the universe. When I do come across something that's ear worthy, you better believe i'm going to share it. I caught this about a week ago via Twitter after I saw Vikter Duplaix and Questlove tweeted about it. After a pretty busy schedule of putting in work and family, I finally got around to it. A man who's very well deserving of being called "The Magnificent", DJ Jazzy Jeff, a heavyweight in his own right, comes back with another classic banger with a talented vocalist by the name of Ayah. I was late checking my inbox for this compilation. Many people stateside think that mainly Go-Go and funk come from the capitol city of Washington D.C. The monumental city also houses some fantastic soul music that moves the spirit, as well as your feet. Jill Scott is not the only one who's living life like it's golden, because Muhsinah , pleasantly nicknamed "The Golden Girl", proves that she is with her silky, euphoric vocals, as well as her gift to produce.

Stevie Wonder (born May 13, 1950 as Steveland Hardaway Judkins, later changed to Morris) is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and activist who signed with Motown Records' Tamla label at the age of eleven, after being discovered by Gerald White, brother of Ronnie White of The Miracles.

I'm certainly glad that many artists are making the word love the main focus of recent projectds that are coming out. With that being said, Washington D.C. based composer Brother Spanky does his bit with Soul Beauty Vol. 2: The Love EP, which came out a few days ago. After listening to the entire album, I would say he's more like a Raphael Saadiq meets Wyclef, with a blend of Brand New Heavies. You can follow Brother Spanky on Twitter for more updates and such. Time to cue the fanfare because the lovely and talented Dezaray Dawn is releasing her Deep EP on all digital outlets, via Sol Heir Music on May 31st. On her website she posted a preview of one of the tracks titled "Sail Away", which is produced by veteran UK producer Marc Mac of 4 Hero fame. I have a good feeling this tune will set the European airwaves on fire this summer. Stay tuned!

The "Father of the Vibes", Lionel Leo Hampton (April 20, 1908 – August 31, 2002) was a jazz vibraphonist, pianist, percussionist, bandleader and actor. Hampton was one of the first jazz vibraphone players and ranks among the great names in jazz history, having worked with a who's who of jazz musicians, from Benny Goodman and Buddy Rich to Charlie Parker and Quincy Jones. In 1992, he was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.
Luther Vandross (April 20, 1951 – July 1, 2005) was an R&B and soul singer-songwriter, and record producer. During his career, Vandross sold over twenty-five million albums and won eight Grammy Awards including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance four times. He won four Grammy Awards in 2004 including the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for the track "Dance with My Father", co-written with Richard Marx.
