The Record Realm Podcast #17

During the absence of blog posts over the last two years, The Record Realm has still been doing its share of work within the music and arts community by co-producing a number of Hip-Hop shows, as well as the latest installment called Reggae On The Rail, which featured live Reggae bands from the Houston Metropolitan area and myself (DJ Kool Emdee) spinning Reggae, Rocksteady and Dub music. Another thing that developed in that time span is a series of podcasts, consisting of many different styles and genres to give listeners an idea of the musical diversity of DJ Kool Emdee.

It is with great pleasure that we present to you the latest edition of the podcast series that's power-packed with some soulful goodies, ranging from the likes of Danish producer Kriswontwo, Calamity, Da U.A, Philippe Edison, George Duke, and more. Underground Merger x AntLive Studio: The Return of Real Hip-Hop Houston

For those living in Houston and surrounding areas, we would love for you to make plans to join us for The Return of Real Hip-Hop Houston, hosted by Underground Merger and AntLive Studio at Taqueria La Macro, a nice little restaurant located just north of downtown. May 9th marks our second set at this new location, which is next to the light rail.

Every set is a celebration of the culture of Hip-Hop for all ages, complete with live DJs [including myself], B-Boys/B-Girls, emcees, and graffiti artists painting live. There's an open mic to test your freestyle skills, as well as scheduled performances. While you're being entertained, grab a bite and some brews from the bar and kitchen. Taqueria La Macro was voted as the Houston Press Best Taqueria Houston 2013 and Best Breakfast Tacos Houston 2013. Admission is free, but you can always drop something in the tip jar.

The Cypher Effect: Texas Road Trip

Just giving you all a heads up about the event I will be spinning for this Friday in Houston. The Underground Merger, a local underground Hip-Hop movement, piloted by Houston's first female graffiti writer, Rain Flowa, who's also a singer and MC, has partnered with Los Angeles based The Cypher Effect to bring you a Texas sized version of the series. Plenty of MC's will be on hand, along with other local DJ's to assist in the sound bombing for lyricists, B-Girls and B-Boys. We're taking it back to the basic elements.
