Today, we're taking you back to 2012, when London based MC/Producer Tom Dice dropped his vocal debut 'Rhythms of Dice' LP that features our Friday Flashback tune of the day, "Only The Beginning". The subject matter of the tune is a flashback within a flashback, with mentions of Hip-Hop icons and record labels of the 1980s. Its uptempo beat and driving bass line makes this cut an ideal track for B-Boys and B-Girls to strut their stuff on some linoleum. For all my vinyl junkies, aside from this being a fresh record to have in your collection, what makes it extra special is there were only 100 copies of the 7" pressed up and they are hand numbered by Dice himself. Consider yourself very lucky if you copped the vinyl.

The Record Realm Podcast #17
During the absence of blog posts over the last two years, The Record Realm has still been doing its share of work within the music and arts community by co-producing a number of Hip-Hop shows, as well as the latest installment called Reggae On The Rail, which featured live Reggae bands from the Houston Metropolitan area and myself (DJ Kool Emdee) spinning Reggae, Rocksteady and Dub music. Another thing that developed in that time span is a series of podcasts, consisting of many different styles and genres to give listeners an idea of the musical diversity of DJ Kool Emdee.
It is with great pleasure that we present to you the latest edition of the podcast series that's power-packed with some soulful goodies, ranging from the likes of Danish producer Kriswontwo, Calamity, Da U.A, Philippe Edison, George Duke, and more. Currently we are transferring podcast files from Soundcloud to our new home at HearThis.at. More podcasts will be uploaded over time. Give us a follow to stay updated.

Moseh Drumist - Wanichanganya
Hailing from the beautiful country of Kenya, Nairobi based drummer Moseh Drumist continues to bring love, peace, happiness, and inspiration through his music. The multi-talented musician believes that "edutainment" is a key factor in bringing harmony among all people from different walks of life. His latest musical offering, "Wanichanganya" urges us to 'appreciate love and life' with the fire of the Equatorial House sound. The blending of traditional instruments with modern electronic sounds makes for a motivational groove that will give the irresistible urge to move.
For my producers reading this post, I was alerted to sound packs created by Moseh for Ableton Live consisting of Ohangla drums of the Luo culture in western Kenya. On the drum's hypnotic power:
"These drums were used in sacred celebration ceremonies – their sounds are therapeutic and possess the audience. When I play these drums people usually go into a trance... It takes their souls on a journey."
You can access sound packs from Moseh and the Santuri Safari by clicking HERE. Subscribe to his YouTube Channel to stay updated on new videos, interviews, and where to purchase his music and merchandise.

Kokoroko Afrobeat Collective - Colonial Mentality
The Kokoroko Afrobeat Collective was born a few years ago of a family of friends in music school who shared the love of music, particularly the music and message of Fela Kuti. At the suggestion of a friend to start their own band (not taken seriously, at first), it is Fela's music that gave the fuel and passion for the group to put their own spin on Afrobeat by fusing the sounds of West Africa, with a hint of Southern Africa, and the fire of the London music scene.
As a tribute to their beloved musical hero, the collective has done an excellent cover of Fela's "Colonial Mentality". Here's a live performance from 2016 at the Sofar Sounds headquarters.
Saxophone - Cassie Kinoshi
Trombone - Richie SeivWright
Bass - Mutale Chashi
Guitar - Oscar Jerome
Keyboards - Yohan Kebede
Percussion - Onome Ighamre
Drums - Eddie Hicks
