For those that caught my Dilla Jackson mixtape, I used this beat from J-Dilla's Beat Tape '05 to remix the end dialog by Vincent Price from Michael Jackson's "Thriller". This beat was also used for Q-Tip's "Fever" song.

J-Dilla: Sum Spooky Sh*t
For those that caught my Dilla Jackson mixtape, I used this beat from J-Dilla's Beat Tape '05 to remix the end dialog by Vincent Price from Michael Jackson's "Thriller". This beat was also used for Q-Tip's "Fever" song.
Micahel Jackson: Thriller
The day wouldn't be complete without the official full length "Thriller" video from Michael Jackson and cast. Happy Halloween! [insert Vincent Price maniacal laugh]

Mayer Hawthorne is giving away this remix of "Wine Glass Woman" from his Where Does This Door Go album as a courtesy for downloading his new mobile app called "Where Does This DJ Go", that you can download for free via the iTunes store.
Buruntoma: Homenagem ao Heroi
A taste of Africa should satisfy your musical palate with the sounds of Guinea Bissau based DJ and producer Buruntuma. "Homenagem ao Heroi" is helping to push the sounds of his native land far beyond its borders. Growing up in a family of music lovers who listened to artists from all over Africa, he also developed a passion for House music from the United States and Europe while away studying in Portugal by participating in student parties. The discovery of different styles of music from abroad played key roles in him carving his own style of Afro-House. Thanks to the good folks at The Fader, "Homenagem ao Heroi" is available as a complimentary download. Pay them a visit and read the interview on Buruntoma to get a better feel of who he is.
ill-esha: Only Fair (Freddy Todd Remix)
Get your hump day bounce going with this Freddy Todd remix of ill-esha's "Only Fair" that he's been previewing at a few of his shows. Now it's available for purchase via iTunes and Beatport. Samuel: Steam Train
Some are describing Samuel as a "future R&B" artist because of the way his vocals blend with the production of Okzharp for his debut Falling Star EP released just days ago on Technicolour Music. As the days are getting cooler, "Steam Train" fits perfectly in your cozy soundtrack to help draw that special someone in closer. This digital goodness is available via the Ninja Shop.
DJ Chicken George: Radio Jazztronica! 3 (ProperlyChilled)
While taking in The Pharcyde and K-otix show on this past Thursday night, I ran into a good friend and one of my all time favorite spin doctors DJ Chicken George who was in town to spin for the weekend. As always, it's good to see my brother and to vibe to his mixes. Stream the latest installment of Radio Jazztronica! he did for Properly Chilled. Thanks to Ant Boogie for taking the photo.

DJ Bully Beatz: Bring Da Noize
DJ Bully Beatz is another talented producer from the United Kingdom who's tunes I stumbled across while roving the pages of Soundcloud. I had to show this guy some love by posting his "Bring Da Noize" track that features vocals from Hip-Hop veterans Public Enemy. If you're into drum n' bass like I am, you won't be able to sit in your seat without feeling the urge to jump up and get busy. Be sure to catch him spinning on the Final Destination Show on UK radio 99.7 FM-Midlands on Thursdays 7pm-9pm and Saturdays 5pm-7pm. ENJOY!
Moods: Take You There
I've been listening to and following Rotterdam producer Moods for the last 3 to 4 years, and he's another gifted cat who never ceases to deliver fOnky head banging beats that nearly make you want to snap your neck. This has got to be the flyest flip of Fela Kuti's "Water No Get Enemy" that i've heard so far. This should help get your day going perfectly.

Happy Birthday: Steve Catanzaro of Modern Groove Assembly
Today we would like to wish Steve Catanzaro of Modern Groove Assembly a very happy birthday and hopes that he has many, many happy returns. A very cool and inspirational brother who pleasantly refers to himself as a "musical schizophrenic" because of him wearing multiple hats as pianst/keyboardist, mixer, producer, audio engineer and composer. He cites Horace Silver, Chopin, Gershwin, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and many other greats in Jazz and classical music as his influences.
Presently, he has a euphoric upbeat dance groove streaming on his Soundcloud page that features the vocals of Sy Smith and Kes, and features a killer flute performance by Louis Taylor. It's a complimentary download, so get it while the gettin' is good.

MeeMee Nelzy: Moon Reflection EP
I would use "spirit music" to describe Parisian songstress MeeMee Nelzy's Moon Reflection EP that has everyone over here at headquarters abuzz. She took full creative control on the opening track "James Bond Girl", which she wrote and produced, that has a melodic, deep house feel. The return of beat-maker Saneyes, who worked with her on her Kréyòl Seasoning LP from 2011, has put his skills to work to create the magical love anthem "Lanmen Lanmou" [means 'love's hands']. The last track, "On Favè" has that signature sound from Diggs Duke that you can pick out even if you're blindfolded. All the songs are that good to where it was hard to pick out a song for this post. So, just purchase all three at a price that's a steal and ENJOY!

Friday Flashback: Mos Def [Yasiin Bey]
Sometimes things can be a little hectic and we need that extra push or some words of encouragement to help see things through. Mos Def [now known as Yasiin Bey] created "Umi Says" to sum it up perfectly, mentioning how his mother ["umi" means mother in Arabic] tells him to "shine your light on the world/shine your light for the world to see". Taken from his 1999 solo debut Black On Both Sides, the track was produced by Mos Def and David Kennedy, with instrumentation help from will.i.am on the Fender Rhodes and the legendary Weldon Irvine on the Hammond organ.

TolumiDE: O Lagbara
To keep the celebration going today, I thought it would be an excellent idea to post my favorite track from TolumiDE, an outstanding vocalist of Yoruba decent living in Washington D.C. I met this young lady via Google Plus, saw that she's a singer and gave her a listen. She blew me away with her rich vocals and performance. The musicians are her songs are top notch and really brought out the brightness in her music. What I like most about this crew is how they don't box themselves in with one style. I'm anticipating future releases from her. Grab TolumiDE's debut, My Love via iTunes and ENJOY!
Happy Birthday: Fela Kuti
(October 15, 1938 – August 2, 1997)
Here we are for another year in celebrating the birth date of the "black president" Fela Kuti (born Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti). Let us get together and celebrate in the spirit of oneness!
"A lot of people play African music. It's music of the people. It's music of togetherness. The tonalities, the rhythms of the songs, it's all African. We have 43 people on the tour, and a full show uses 35 of them. People tell me my band is too big, that I can't go on tour. They try to use economics to destroy the culture of my people. Why should money get in the way when I'm promoting greatness?" - FELA KUTI

Dudley Perkins: Foot Surgery
The long wait [four years to be exact] is finally over and a brand new album titled Dr. Stokely from Dudley Perkins will arrive on November 29th via Mello Music Group. Judging from the "Foot Surgery" track produced by highly slept on left coast producer Kankick, this is just the tip of the iceberg that i'm sure will be melted with the whole fOnk also being brought by Madlib and Dudley's wife Georgia Anne Muldrow. Pre-order Dr. Stokely on iTunes and get an advance download of "Foot Surgery" for free.
OM Unit: Shine Your Light
British electronic producer OM Unit is locked and loaded, ready to release his first full length album Threads on Civil Music on October 28th. To help celebrate this huge milestone, he currently has "Shine Your Light", which didn't make it on the album, as a free download via XLR8R. Friday Flashback: Parliament
For this week, we take you back to 1978. The album is Motor Booty Affair, the fifth consecutive gold album by Parliament, under the creative leadership of the funktastic maestro George Clinton. The song of reference for this post is "One of Those Funky Things", a driving bass and synth heavy dance groove with hypnotizing vocals that has been borrowed by Hip-Hop groups such as EPMD, Ruff Ryders and others.

Submerse: Melonkoly [Elaquent Remix]
About two or three months ago I posted about English producer Submerse of the Project Mooncircle family. I've grown quite fond of his music since that time and recently he has released his Melonkoly album that's full of treats. The title track is remixed three times by beat makers such as Deft, RLP and Canadian producer Elaquent, who is also the subject of this post, who also gets plenty of spins here at The Record Realm office. Project Mooncircle has a treat for vinyl junkies with limited edition white pressings, that include download codes for the digital format with each purchase.
Bosco: Black Book
In my opinion, Brittany Bosco is a slept on artist who has great vocal range, as well as not limited in types of music that she does. Her latest, "Black Book" takes back to the past and the future, with a sound reminiscent of 1990's R&B, yet sounds updated. Grab this goody from the player below.

Jordan Rakei: Selfish
As the musical journey continues, our next stop is Brisbane, Australia, with multi-instrumentalist Jordan Rakei, an unsigned soul artist who earning his way into the hearts of music lovers. Currently, he's getting several spins in France, Netherlands, America, England, New Zealand and his native Australia. His lists of influences are Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Fat Freddie's Drop, John Legend, James Blake, D'Angelo and Bob Marley.
I caught wind of his Reggae tune titled "Selfish" on his Soundcloud page, and to my surprise, to see that he has a six track album called Franklin's Room on Bandcamp that's at a "Name your price" basis. Looking at the photos on his Facebook page, he's hard at work to bring you quality music. Let's be supportive of this talented fellow and make some monetary contributions.
Busta Rhymes: Woo Hah! (Got You All In Check) [Shade Cobain Remix]
Taking you on a blast to the past with the sounds of Busta Rhymes, but with a touch of coal and steel, making this an ironclad remix done by Pittsburgh producer Shade Cobain. Shade is offering this heat for free, for a limited time. Enjoy!
